trying something new/old

This afternoon I made a special trip to the stationary store. I figured I deserved a gift because I’ve been a good girl all Ramadan. Plus I felt inspired to try out new things. Or old things that I hadn’t done for over twenty years, like block printing. So I bought, among other goodies, all the block printing tools that I needed. I must say, I was pretty rusty at first but soon got the hang of it. I feel that I know exactly how I want to approach my next lino block. I’m so excited!

i’m going to stick to my basic black for now. i did get some red paint as well, which i played around with

i wasn’t sure how to begin so i started with this sketch. i wanted something that i could play with texture-wise, so i gave her this princess leia hairstyle

i had to experiment with the different cutters to find the right ones. as i said earlier, this first one is my test. i’m sure i’ll get better with time
