Amazing how her expression reads differently now that cow has thrown wine all over her. In the previous painting she looked a cross between embarrassed and disappointed. She had been so proud of her dress and now it had gone to shod. But now, NOW she is thinking of the various ways to humiliate this unworthy opponent, preferably without blood shed… The wine stains are bad enough.
the one on the left is a bitch. the other one’s about to be. oh no you di’in’t!
They’re both the same person. She’s worried she might spill the glass on her dress again and make a fool of herself like last time.
it’s funny you should say that because while i was painting this i was so terrified of spilling anything on the canvas before it was finished. i left the spill for the end.
