Where There’s a Bear, There’s a Boy, 2017, ink on paper, 30 x 40 cm

I’ve just recovered almost completely from the most pain in the ass flu I’ve experienced in recent history. While bedridden I started reading Floating Worlds: The Letters of Edward Gorey & Peter F. Neumeyer. I’ve always loved Gorey’s illustrations but this book is an intimate window into his life via his friendship (and numerous collaborations) with Neumeyer. It touches on his obsessiveness with his drawings, and his cross-hatching technique which distracts him from everything else in his life. I get that completely. It’s also inspired me to draw a ‘bear’, which isn’t really a bear.

Music is Lady of My Dreams by Vast. I’ve used this one before because it works well with my process videos.

In progress.

Me, a bear and a boy.
