september 12 } time to meet my brother t and his family at the ONblackheath festival, which turns out to be a hodge podge of a kiddy festival turned music festival at night, but fun nonetheless

It’s been a busy few days since my sister and I arrived in London on September 10. You may notice that there isn’t a Part I to this, and that’s because I started this trip’s log with an Airplane Timelines post. I have very confused organizational methods.

in case you didn’t get it the first time ’round, that’s blackheath. i could very easily live here

crossing the heath to the festival grounds. we were blessed with phenomenal weather

to both yasmine and me, the stilts were the afternoon’s highlight

tareq. all seven foot three of him

yasmine somehow on and somehow off

one of my eves decides to pack and join the comedy crew

dinner time. inside the chef’s club tent for what turns out to be a sampler meal (it wasn’t really, just paltry for the alkandari stomach)

yasmine and the beautiful tent

eve and her tiny flower await the first course

getting distracted by the floral centerpiece

tareq and yasmine enjoy a post-prandial meal of fish and chips. i had a swirly ice-cream cone and the rest of yasmine’s fries. i know, gross

the white bunny helps me with the tapestry

yasmine and i are conked out on the train back to victoria station

september 13 } outside anna’s window, i’m back from an early grocery run. it takes my sister and me three days to get our act together, from replenishing our fridge to organizing our things in anna’s flat

at noon i meet sarah, who has invited me to join her for brunch at the conflict cafe, part of the talking peace festival. click on the link below for details

Talking Peace Festival

i love sarah

honey and co founders itamar srulovich and sarit parker have prepared the lush feast for us. it is a brief moment of being taken aback by the fact i am being fed by two israelis, but that is what the event is about: breaking bread, making friends, creating peace. yum!

eve, figs, strawberries, lebneh, pomegranate, blueberries, cereal and nuts. imagine the explosion of flavors and texture in my mouth

before the last course arrives, we are stuffed. what a shame

meringue, berries and mint tea

a wonderful afternoon spent with new friends and old

on the way out, eve gets lost in the house of vans (where the event was hosted)
