On May 22 we took my little nephew Omar to be photographed in what was originally my brother Tareq’s jumpsuit, one of two from when he and I were 3 and 5 years old respectively. My mom got our outfits from El Corte Ingles in Madrid, when we were living there in 1975. From left to right: my brother Mo gets Omar prepped while his mom Jana documents, Omar, his entourage, me and my brother Tareq, Mo and Ahmed, my sister Yasmine, my boys Khaled and Yousef, Zainab, Ahmed’s son Abdul-Razzaq and Mo’s boys Khaldoun and Tareq Jr.On May 23, I had a visit from Judith and Zain.Yesterday we spent half the day at a salon getting Z’s hair colored. I took my journal with me and got a manicure.Ooh la la! Z’s beautiful hair, well worth the hours of hanging around!Later on we picked up Yasmine and had some dinner at a restaurant whose name we can’t remember. We wanted to go to Madison and Heig but there was a waiting list and the weather was too atrocious, so we stepped into this one. Lucky for us, the food was delicious and the service was very, very good!Tonight I worked a little bit more on this painting. A story is beginning to emerge. I’ll have to wait and see where it goes.
