my new schoolbook from manifesto 13

This post is not about Manifesto 13. It’s about this red and black schoolbook that Dalal Al-Nafisi (founder of Manifesto 13) gave me when I visited the art center with Zainab this morning. I do want to go back and do some proper snooping around (unfortunately I’d forgotten my phone this morning. I couldn’t take photos so borrowed Z’s). Hopefully soon I’ll have a proper M13 post.

I’ve also included some photos from a trip Z and I took to the ‘Wig Mall’ (a shopping center with every hair-related product you can think of) just because of how bizarre it was.

Check out what’s happening at Manifesto 13 here.

in the basement of 'wig mall' z and i were alone in this indoor antique market. dalal actually told us about it when i inquired about the notebook she gave me. so it wasn't a total surprise. it was creepy, as you can imagine. and i don't know what's more controversial: a hanging bear rug (badly stuffed at that) or a framed poster of hitler

this is my little brother mo, in the late 70s in the same style of pot! honestly i went nuts when i saw it at the shop. i didn't want to buy it so i told the shopkeeper the story of my mom photographing my brothers in pots and this one in particular, and how i wanted to recreate this photo with my nephew k, mo's son...and then he let me 'borrow' it for a small payment (which is probably the value of the pot)

Jana, Mo, my sister Yasmine and I got together yesterday to recreate this photo of my brother Mo from 1979. It feels appropriate to add it to this post from a few days ago. Oh, and Mo decided that he wants to keep the pot so I have to go back tomorrow, pick up the lid and pay the difference.
