walls, prints and intersections
.
taysir batniji’s untitled (gaza walls) is the first installation you see when you walk into the ‘keep your eye on the wall’ exhibition featuring photographers taysir batniji, rula halawani, raeda saadeh, steve sabella, and kai wiedenhöfer
i was mesmerized by rula halawani’s ‘gates to heaven’. they reminded me of photographs of nazi concentration camps. isn’t that so tragically ironic?
the gates of the ‘separation wall’ are rarely open. somehow, there’s a sad beauty to halawani’s apocalyptic photographs
mohammed omer khalil’s ’50 years of printmaking’
me and moh. i loved the textures in his prints. i felt very inspired to experiment with different objects i have in the house. and since i can’t afford a press, i’ll need to make do with what i have lying around. it should be fun
zahra al-mahdi’s ‘intersections’. i’ve been looking forward to this because zahra has this morbid mind that appeals to my love for the macabre
i’m a sucker for milk cartons. and udders. and milk.
