art as disease
energasm
It’s not about the drawings, the paintings, the prints, the photos. It’s about where it all comes from. It’s about the energy, the emotion and the disease inside.
before i realized what a stupid idea my ‘great’ idea to cover the wall and floor with my drawings and sketchbooks was
done
behind the scene
eventually i was happy again with my ‘great’ idea. but it was getting closer to kiddy pick-up time and i needed to get started on dinner (chicken pot pie). maybe not such a great idea after all. again
ugh
books open
books closed
a little side-tracked by some beautiful laser cuts by my friend Thomas Modeen
everything is now back in order. sort of
and i got that chicken pot pie done on time. it’s all part of the disease

Such a beautiful disease.
I can’t help wondering, though: which came first, art or the need to create it? When did we start living beyond subsistence and require aesthetics in our lives? Subsequently, when was the need [disease] to create ‘things’ that hold no evolutionary value born? These are all rhetorical questions which should be regarded as statements. I’m just rambling.
Chicken and egg huh. Following your subsistence theme, maybe the first cave paintings were in fact plans for tiny humans to work out how to kill a massive mammoth.
I think much art is still concerned with “working stuff out” and getting to grips with the nature of a thing, a thought, a concept, a human condition. Looking at some of the so called art that’s around today the artists would have been better served by having a good Swedish Massage.
As for rambling, I can imagine you rummaging around your studio sorting and arranging your huge collection of pictures words and insights whilst rambling about artistic hamburgers (subsistence theme again). If it is a disease you have, it’s contagious.
Art is a wonderful disease with which to be afflicted
Oh I don’t know. Sometimes I wish I were someone’s personal assistant or a high school administrator.
you can be both…it would provide more inspiration.

Lately, I have started hanging my art on my walls. My son says I need to hang all of my pictures. I think that I will. I think because of the way I grew up; I was not allowed to hang things on the wall, it just seems wrong to put up so many pictures. However, I love this. Blank walls are so boring and I am definitely not boring.
Wow, what a nice ‘disease’ to have!
Trust me Ghadah, you don’t want to be a high school administrator. Maybe you could be a fashion buyer for some notable celebrity. Imagine what you could do with the Queen of England.
Is she a celebrity? Hmmm…the things I could do….
This is amazing… Yes – such energy, such creativity… And the chicken pot pie looks amazing too. peace
Thank you! It was very yummy x
