mom & her four daughters

mom & her four daughters, 2012, acrylic, collage and oil pastels on canvas, 135cm x 240cm

Done. I really enjoyed this painting because for the first time in a long time I felt like a child working on it. I didn’t think; I just painted, drew and scribbled. That sense of freedom is all I need right now, at a time when I feel trapped and slightly hopeless.

i was thinking: the colors aren't quite 'right' here, they are more accurate in the next photo. but then i realized, that's not important. it's like a symphony; not essential which key you play in, but how you play, and how the instruments intermingle

  1. . . . trapped and helpless. With all you are doing artistically and everything you have yet to be involved with surely there’s scope for optimism. It’s a cliché, I know, but nevertheless true that the nettle must be grasped now to make the necessary changes reality.
