new pictures on friday
paintings about sitting: low chair, 2011, dyed coffee filters and acrylic on canvas, 50cm x 50cm
I started a new series titled Paintings About Sitting today. I really, really enjoyed doing these, from dying the coffee filters with food coloring to cutting and deco-patching the pieces onto the canvas and finally adding in my sitting ladies. Fun, fun, fun!
i made petals
stacks and stacks of rose petals
in the initial stages of this picture, i felt like an imposter had trespassed and left their painting on my easel. this is beautiful but so not me
and then there was the drippage. now this is me
this was actually the first canvas i covered. at this point it was just me playing with colored coffee filters and glue
i thought it might work better sideways. the dome-like structured looked a little too silly for my liking
paintings about sitting: the very first one, 2011, dyed coffee filters and acrylic on canvas, 50cm x 50cm
my third petal-strewn canvas next to a stack of unassuming frames. they're next.
i love the size of these 50cm by 50cm canvases: easy to stretch, easy to move around the studio and so much fun to experiment with
paintings about sitting: girl with letter, 2011, dyed coffee filters and acrylic on canvas, 50cm x 50cm

It’s like the girl with the letter is imprisoned. The colors are bloody. I feel for her.
