come with me

I’m not Egyptian. I know that. But I lived there for seven of-I can safely say at 41 years of age-the best years of my life. My closest friends, the people, the buildings, the air. I thought it was only way back then that I was in love with my Cairo. But it’s clear to me now that I still am. And my heart is breaking for it.

  1. One of my oldest friends is Egyptian. He lived in Canada for years, which is how I met him, but went back to Cairo 20 years ago. I am scared for him and his country but also hopeful. Whatever happens there, with Mubarak apparently on the brink of resigning, I hope the upheaval is over soon and that the resolution is peaceful and just and in the service of the Egyptian people.
