the overtaking of a peloton of angels early on a wednesday morning
After seeing my mini-collection, The Stories of Eves, a dear, dear friend of mine asked me to create a special collage for him depicting a cyclist on a cobblestone road. I thought, how can I make a cyclist on a cobblestone road more romantic than a simple road bike on a dirty street? So I used a lovely pear fabric my mother gave me years ago, and added a few of my angels.
I see those angels hovering over me sometimes when I am on two wheels this is the first time I see them with my eyes. They go faster sometimes and other times slower. Sometimes the dissapear all together. I know where to find them now.. :)
but they won’t always be flying above you. you must be careful not to trample them, especially during the feeding season when they are on the roads pecking at smaller angels.
Whenever I see you I always remark (to myself) what a beautiful pear you have. Now I see you have a basket full of them! It really is a gorgeous illustration. I’m sure your dear, dear friend is delighted with it!
i’ve seen your pear and i must say, although a little prune-like it’s almost as beautiful as mine. thanks for your compliment, i know you’re a lady who is hard to please. and i’m also glad you like this piece.
Hah! Synchronic goodness. I’m currently working on a strange and beautiful bookthing with a photographer-collaborator and bicycles play an important role in the story. I’ll have to send my partner-in-crime over here to look at this work of yours.
I also have to say that I’m veeeeery loveful of both the notion of and the phrase “a peloton of angels”.
What a wonderful image that can be interpreted so many ways! I would just be happy to have some angels hovering when I cycle!
