I’m drawing this for the next book in my series. The theme and title of the book is ‘Chores’. This time I wanted to include one of my storybook illustrations and this one will be it.

Every now and then I like a Raw Epistle letter so much I share it here. Did I say every now and then? I think I’ve done it just once before. This is a letter I ‘wrote’ to one of my best friends Maysaa Al-Mumin. (more…)

My kiddies are back in school and I’m free! Free, I tell you, free! So I had a lovely morning of relaxation, just me and my paints. Bliss. I wouldn’t have stopped painting but I must be leaving soon to pick up my little ones. I can’t wait to get back to this painting as I am enjoying it tremendously (helps that it’s small too!)

I started this painting a while ago but just got back to it today. I still have some decisions to make about it. As always, please no comments until it’s done. Sometimes people give me suggestions and although I appreciate that, I like to work on my paintings without other people’s voices in my head! (more…)

I have finally put in an order for an A3 scanner. I’m feeling a little joyous about it, but once I receive it I’ll be very, very joyous. This scanner will change my life! (more…)

Of course this is still a work in progress. I have an idea of what I want to do next but I must be patient and wait for it to dry completely. (more…)

I started this painting yesterday. I didn’t think I’d get this far, but I got really into it. I’m very much enjoying the patterning, and I made it a rule to avoid all opaqueness, which is very different from my usual approach to painting. I only broke the rule at the end because it was absolutely necessary to do so. The painting still needs a bit of tweaking so please, as always, reserve your I-would-have-done-this’s for when it’s done. (more…)

Sunday morning is usually the day I like to play. I haven’t had this chance for a while because of preparations for my upcoming Stories of Eves exhibition at the Tilal Gallery. It felt great to work on a small canvas, without a deadline or the pressures that come with it. The name ‘Ruby’ just popped into my head as I started to type the title of this piece.
