blah

To think I was going to throw this old lamp away. If it weren’t for a dream I had two nights ago, I would have eventually gotten rid of it. And because of that dream and the work of art I created in it, I now have a new lamp. But let me tell you, this thing was the most difficult object I have ever decopatched. It’s spherical, collapsible and spins on a moving axis, a true pain in the neck (literally). I did it though, and the result is, if I should say so myself, a lot nicer than the one I made in my dream. Don’t you love it when that happens? (more…)

I want a garden. But all I can afford is a vase of decaying flowers.

this has been on my bulletin board for as long as i remember. a friend of mine visited one day and admired it. i was like, that old thing? i think some things should be put away in order to truly preserve their value!

Sometimes we stop seeing things until someone points them out to us. Thank you, M! (more…)

door

About a year ago, one of my home’s doors had to be broken in order to get one of my children locked inside, out. And now, a whole year later, I finally have a new door. When the workers came in to replace it with the new one, and proceeded to take the broken one out of the apartment, I was like, “Whoa, Misters!” I paid for the new door, there was no way I was going to let them just take it back to the workshop and chuck it in the shredding bin. Plus, that door has been with me for years now and I kinda get attached to things (more…)

ruby & her three yellow roses, february 27, 2011, multi-media on canvas

Sunday morning is usually the day I like to play. I haven’t had this chance for a while because of preparations for my upcoming Stories of Eves exhibition at the Tilal Gallery. It felt great to work on a small canvas, without a deadline or the pressures that come with it. The name ‘Ruby’ just popped into my head as I started to type the title of this piece.
