Ghadah. I am feeling restless and today I drew a woman with a long skirt like your eve and her laptop:) I am absorbing you by osmosis.

I’m losing my mind. The above Facebook conversation between Miti and me transpired ten days ago. Last week Miti sent me the two pictures she drew here and I couldn’t remember why, as much as I liked them, they were significant to the post I had originally envisaged. So Miti sent me the whole conversation! You really gotta love Facebook sometimes!

So here’s Miti Aiello’s Words to Water (written by Miti):

You can write anytime you like
      But you can never reach.

The drawings have to do with trying to reach someone who can never be reached. A human wall.
The wall is made of different things, could be spite, pride, ignorance.
If the lady who is writing wasn’t so naive she would look around the wall where the mailbox is and realize her letters would never be answered, or never in the spirit of which she sent them.

letters to water one. miti you must also have been affected by the letter writing!

From Andy Warhol to Shireen Nishat, this is the art lover’s candy store!

I think this is going to be one of the most exciting events of the year, if only for the birth of a new Kuwaiti hub for the contemporary arts. I’m not going to be able to attend but gallery director Liane Al-Ghusain was gracious enough to let me have a sneak peak Wednesday morning, an experience I will definitely be sharing with you guys. Good luck, Liane!

Upcoming Exhibition}PrettyGreenBullet|The Second Exhibition

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I have finally secured a venue and set a date (well, two tentatively, a week apart) for my upcoming PrettyGreenBullet exhibition. I have decided to have a one-night PGB exhibition at the Dar Al-Funoon gallery on either December 5 or December 12. It’s a bigger and more fulfilling sensation than I thought now that I have that done. Tonight, things feel different. I have now officially embarked on something good!

Check out last year’s PGB exhibition here. (more…)

Botamba continue to display their professional ineptitude and outright rudeness. A few days ago I posted this and this. I have to say that I apologize to the blogs that I mentioned because as of today, one of them has been removed from this so-called aggregator. The owner of the freshly removed blog contacted me today with his grievances towards the site. He forwarded me both his letter to the site’s owner concerning preferentialism and the owner’s response. Apparently Botamba is selective to what they deem worthy of retweeting. This is an excerpt from Mr. Stillsearching’s second letter to Botamba:

listen, you either offer a service, or you don’t.

what about the tweets?

i’m not ansam, buzfairy, or any of your friends. but if your site says it is an aggregator then it should do that job for all.
but perhaps you now find you are in the position to censor, edit and screen what is made available.
not going to make most people happy, is it?
your customer service skills seem to be sadly lacking, and may even be non-existant.
i give you the opportunity to reply.
To which he received this reply:
I don’t. Your blog has been removed.
Thank you for using Botamba :)
So not only are we censored on a national level, but these gormless brats are doing it too.
